Be the Best you can Be! launch, with Paralympian Ian Rose
On Monday 21st May, we launched our Olympic inspired programme, Be the Best you can Be! The programme has been developed to inspire, engage and empower young people to recognise and fulfil their potential and to support the quest that the London 2012 Olympic Games be an inspiration to the youth of Britain and the rest of the world.
The day started with St. James’ Infant School passing on the Tunbridge Wells District Schools Olympic Torch to Mr Tutt, the Head Teacher, in assembly.
Ian Rose, Paralympic silver medallist and former World and European Champion in judo, was warmly welcomed to the school and gave an incredibly entertaining and inspirational talk to the pupils and staff about his life and ambitions following childhood eye cancer which left him disabled.
Each class then had the opportunity to meet Ian, discuss their plan A and plan B with him, ask questions and have a class photo taken with Ian and wear his medals.
It is hoped that by completing the Be the Best you can Be! Programme, our pupils will have raised their self-confidence, self-esteem and have a clearer idea of how they can achieve their dreams.
Have you been the Best you can Be? Is a question we should all ask ourselves.
