National Poetry Day
On Tuesday 28th September we were lucky to be joined by the poet Brian Moses. He led a whole school assembly where the children got to listen to a number of his poems which he performed in an incredibly engaging way using instruments and getting the children to join in. Lots of laughter could be heard when he shared some of his more embarrassing poems about the lives of teachers!
Brian then led two workshops, one for Year 3 and 4 where the children wrote an alien love letter, and one for Year 5 and 6 which was inspired by the children's own special memories. He was particularly impressed with the children and even posted one of the poems on his blog. The library was packed at the end of the day with the children buying copies of his books and getting them signed. Brian also kindly donated copies of his books to our school library.
Throughout the week the children have been enjoying learning about different types of poetry and writing their own poems. Some of the best examples are already on display and being enjoyed by the children and staff.
Ofsted Report July 2017
Ofsted Report - July 2017
We have received our Ofsted report for the inspection which was carried out in July (in the last week of the school term). Thank you all to all those parents who took the time to speak to the inspector or complete Ofsted's parent view.
As you will see the report is extremely positive and highlights the many strengths of the school. It reflects the fantastic teachers, TAs and office staff we have at St James' who work their socks off every day for the children. It also, of course, reflects the amazing children we are lucky to have at our school and the incredibly supportive parent community.
The report will be uploaded to the Ofsted website within the next week.
Welcome New Teacher & Support Assistant
Welcome new teacher and support assistant, September 2017.
We are delighted to welcome our new teacher, Miss Sophie Stock, who is teaching in Year 5 and Mrs Sarah Baker, who will be supporting children in Year 4. Both are settling into the school well.
