Tunbridge Wells District Swimming Gala
On Wednesday 22nd February, the Swimming team took part in the Swimming Gala at St John’s. All the swimmers did fantastically and we won several of the races. Emily, Isla, Lily and Beth all won their individual events for the girls and Theo, Max and George H all won events for the boys. In the relays, the girls team won their race, the boys finished second and the mixed team were victorious in the medley. Lily and Isla both competed in the girl’s open event and finished 1st and 2nd respectively. All these fantastic results meant that St James finished the gala 1st overall, several points ahead of the school in second. An amazing achievement by our amazing swimmers!
Team: Amelie, Aayanan, Emily, Theo, Polly, George L, Harry, Erin, Isla, George H, Lily, Max, Finn, Beth.
John Tutt appointed Executive Headteacher of both the Junior & Infant Schools.
Mrs Shackleton, the Headteacher of the Infants’ School recently announced that she will retire at the end of the summer term. The Governing Body of both the Infants’ and the Junior Schools have agreed it will be in the interests of both Schools to cooperate more closely, where practicable.
The Governing Boards of both schools have agreed to appoint an Executive Headteacher. The decision has been approved by Kent County Council and by the Diocese of Rochester. The foundation status of each school will remain unchanged, as will the distinctive ethos of each of them. Each school will also retain its Governing Board.
Following an interview, the Governing Boards invited John Tutt, Headteacher at the Junior School, to take up the post of Executive Headteacher with effect from 1st September 2017 and he accepted the post. The two Deputy Headteacher’s will have additional responsibilities for the day to day oversight and management of their respective schools.
The Governors congratulated Mr Tutt on his appointment and are looking forward to continuing to work closely with him as he prepares to lead both schools in September.

Big Spring Clean
On Thursday 9th March School Council Members and some other willing volunteers took part in the Big Spring Clean! They kitted themselves up with hi-vis jackets, safety gloves and litter pickers and gave the school and surrounding grounds a really good clean. We were all surprised by how much litter we collected and hope that everybody can work together to keep our school tidy.
