The weather forecast didn't look promising for the week ahead, everyone had fingers crossed there was no more rain.
Monday 20th June: Arrived in light rain, but spirits high. After a packed lunch and tour of the sight, groups headed off to activities. High ropes being very popular and some great achievements. Low ropes and archery also went down well.
Tuesday 21st June: Hurrah, although very damp, the sun is trying to break through. All had a good breakfast, chalet inspections are currently taking place before the first activity of the day. Evening; another busy day for all groups. Activities included quad biking, zip wire, abseiling, problem solving, fencing with aeroball being a favourite again this year. All groups working really well together, even the staff are still smiling!! Fingers crossed for sunshine tomorrow, we'll settle for it being dry! More photos being added.
Wednesday 22nd June; The weather looked promising with some blue sky, but sadly it quickly became overcast with light rain in the air and windy. All groups were in good spirits and set off for activities, some to the beach to canoe and kayak, others to fencing, abseiling, solve problems and climb Jacobs ladder. Weather at lunchtime was not looking good and alternative arrangements were made as Dragon Boating looked unlikely due to the wind. However at the last minute the wind changed direction and dropped and the sun came out and all groups went Dragon Boating.
Everyone had a brilliant day on Thursday, the Head Teacher, Mrs McGlew visited with one of the schools Governors, Mrs Stewart. The skies cleared and the sun broke through and groups had great activities, 4 groups went down to the beach in the afternoon to canoe & kayaking, while others tackled Jacobs Ladder. Mr Smith decided to join Group 2 and he and Mrs Crane teamed up to have a go, the result was very funny!! In the evening everyone went down to the creek for group photo's and then went up to the Activity Zone for the disco, which went down very well. It was then back to cabins to pack ready for an early start on Friday. On Friday the coaches left the site at 8.30, somehow everyone had managed to get packed up and cleared the cabins and also had breakfast. It was then back to Portsmouth on the ferry, with the sun shining. Everyone then divided into four groups and went round HMS Warrior with guides, which was very interesting. After a packed lunch by HMS Victory it was back on the coaches for the journey home. Parents, brothers and sisters were all waiting the coaches arrival back at the school. Everyone had a fantastic week and many children (& adults) overcame fears, encouraged team mates and had worked well as a team.
Celebrations & Awards; The Most Punctual Group Award was won by Group 2; they were consistently ready for meals and activities first. Well done to; Maddy, Sanjana, Ella, Ella, Grace, Ruby, Martha, Emily, Dylan, Matthew & Taylor.
Nathan received a Bravery Award.
The Best Team Spirit Award went to Group 5; Scarlett, Neve, Maisie, Kornelija, Sammy, Matthew, Marc, Oliver, Tom & Lewis. Isle of Wight
For the first time ever a boys cabin won the award for Best Cabin, well done to Matthew, Marc & Oliver. Their cabin was incredibly clean & tidy all week.
