St. James kept their heads held high and Miller Joel, Amir and Joe. B worked the wings very well to put in some deadly crosses. Joe T crossed a good ball into the box and it was a massive scramble in the box and it kingly fell to Joe W for the third shot, he scored to make it 1-1. After Langton Greens kick off Joe T caught the keeper off his line but it fell and hit the cross bar. Then Dean and Jordan came on and Dean put in a through ball to Joe. On Saturday 6th March St. James’ ‘A’ team played in the Kent Schools Football Association under 11’s Tournament in Dover.

Our first match was against Pickhurst. In the first few minutes we won a free kick in their half. Joe T took it and it just hit the bar, but went over. At half time the score was 0-0. In the second half, both keepers were troubled many times, but held strong and still didn’t concede. The final score was 0-0.

Our next match was against Upton. As Joe B had taken an injury Harrison, Millers brother, made a surprise appearance. In the first half an Upton player slipped through and his shot was just out of reach for Josh to save. At half time the score was 1-0. It stayed that way to full time.

Our third match was against Regis Manor, the reigning champions. The game was very quick and we had the best chance of the game, but the Regis Manor keeper held strong. The final score was 0-0.

Our last game was against Lympne. This was our best game and we all played fantastically. In the second half Jonny had a shot that was spilled by the keeper, but disallowed. Our forwards battered the keeper but he didn’t break. The final score was 0-0.

On Tuesday 2nd March, St. James’ ‘A’ Team went to Claremont to play a football match. This was a cup match played all over Kent and which St. James’ have never entered before.

We all started off well and tackled hard, but unfortunately by the end of the first half the score was 0-0.

Then we began the second half, eager to get a win. We had many chances but were not able to get the goal. Josh in goal as usual was pulling off some great saves. At the end of the second half it was still 0-0.So, if the score was still a draw by the end of extra time the game would go to penalties.

Extra time started and everyone wanted the goal. It was hard tackling and good attacking, but right at the end Joe T got the winning goal, just as the whistle blew. 1-0 to us, so that meant that we had won the game.

Thank you to Mrs Waller and Carl for organising the match and to Mrs Simkins for driving us there.

Football A TeamOn the Friday 16th October 2009 St. James’ School A and B team played a tournament at the Hawkenbury Astroturf. The games were 10 minutes long with no half time.

Our first game was against St. Peters, we played well and we won 2-0 with goals by Joel and Lewis. Then, we had a rest and played St. Matthews it was a fair game and we drew 0-0. Our next game was against Pembury, we won 1-0 with a goal by Miller. The game was quite equal but near the end Joe B scored a cracking goal that Max from the B team couldn’t do anything about it.

At that point we had played all our games and had got 11 points and we had just beaten Pembury by one point, but still that was enough to get through to the play-offs.

There were three teams in the finals, us, Amhurst and Antony Roper. The first game was Antony Roper vs. Amhurst and Antony Roper won 1-0. Then it was St. James A vs. Amhurst. Josh made a few great saves with Joe B kicking the ball off the line twice. Miller had lots of shots and in the end he scored two great goals with them being great through balls by Joel and Joe W. Then, without a break we went and played Antony Roper who we had to either draw with or beat. The game started with a great shot from Amir but it got saved on the line also with Joe T making a great tackle and a save off the line. Then Joe W came off for Lewis and unluckily Antony Roper scored in the last two minutes.

We then got told that Antony Roper went through to represent the Dartford area and we went through to represent West Kent. So now we are playing in Dover in the next round!
