A reporter and photographer from the Courier visited the school on Thursday 21st January. They presented a cheque for £1,000 and a trophy to the school as runners up in the recent Cash for Schools Competition run by the Courier Newspaper. With the help of parents and friends the school managed to collect 1000 vouchersand text votes. This made us runners-up in the middle size schools section. Mrs Crane, who entered the school in the competition to received the cheque and trophy on behalf of the school. The money has already gone towards the cost of the new minibus.
Mr Chandler then told the school the exciting news that the new minibus was to be delivered later that morning, everyone cheered and was very excited. Thank you very much to everyone who collected the vouchers and voted by text. The report and photo's will be in the Courier newspaper in the next couple of weeks.
Cash for Schools - The Courier Newspaper
The sad news is that our school minibus is 17 years old and dying! However, the school has just heard the exciting news that we have been selected to take part in Cash for Schools, run by the local Courier newspaper.
We would really like to get funds to buy a lovely new Ford Transit with 15/17 seats. The Governors have said some funds can be used from the budget, and the PFA have said they will raise as much as possible at the Christmas Fair, but we are still short. We need as many votes as possible to gain funds from Cash for Schools.
Everyone was asked to bring in the coupons which will appear in the Courier, over the next three weeks; there will be a box in the entrance hall.
It is also possible to text your vote, simply text 'SU Cash M8' to 65100. Texts cost 50p + your standard network rate.
So please bring your votes in and ask friends and neighbours for their Courier coupons as well. Every vote counts.
