Girls Football

Girls Football, Year 3/4

On Friday the 27th of April 2018 the Year 3 and 4 Girls Football team went to Hayesbrook to play in a football tournament.  We got off to a flying start, winning our first game we won 6-0 against Speldhurst. Our second match was against against Claremont B and we won 4-0.  After that, we had our final group game against St Augustines. We won 2-0 and were through to the semi-finals. Wow!

In the semi final we played Claremont A and won 4-0. That meant we had got into the final! We had to play against Hildenborough who had also won all of their games. Within seconds, Sophie tackled their forwards and dribbled past everyone and scored. Straight from the restart, Sophie did exactly the same thing and scored again! We continued to play exceptionally well and scored 3 more goals. The final score was 5-0. We had won!
The goals were shared between most of the team: Fran top scored with 9, Sophie scored 7, Deryn 2 and Lydia, Charlotte and Emily each scoring 1. Most importantly, Hollie in goal did not concede a single goal in the whole tournament.

Thank you Mrs Simkins for driving us there, Mr Hodges for coaching us and the parents for supporting us we all had a great (but wet) time!!!!

Team: Fran, Emily, Lydia, Sophie, Deryn, Hollie, Ember, Ella & Charlotte.  Report by: Fran, Emily & Lydia.

Mr Hodges reported that the girls ‘played brilliantly’ and that he was ‘very proud of them’, they didn’t let a single goal in.
