Strictly Cool Dancing 2018
On Friday 20th April, the school dance team went to the Assembly Halls to compete in the annual primary school dance competition, Dance Fest. Stocks Green opened the night by performing at a high standard. Five more performances later, we made our way down into the dressing room where we spent the remaining time until our big moment came. From warming up in the corridors, to waiting apprehensively in the wings, it was time to dance! Through extending our movements, pointing our toes and smiling radiantly we danced our way into the finals for the third year in a row. We then waited downstairs in our dressing room until we were told that it was our turn to shine [dance]. Performing our dance a second time gave us the opportunity to improve our previous performance, and that’s just what we did – we did improve our performance by performing it again in the finals! After our performance, we were then called back on stage, with Speldhurst Primary School and Stocks Green. Everything was tense, a golden envelope was brought onstage and handed over to one of the presenters – everybody knew what was being kept inside the envelope, it was the name of the winning school! The Dance Fest champions of 2018 were Stocks Green. Even though we hadn’t won we still had a great time and we became runner’s up with Speldhurst.
Thank you to Mrs Raistrick and Miss Stock for choreographing our dance. Miss Hayward and Mrs Holland for their fantastic make –up skills, Mrs Featherstone for her great gemming of dancer’s faces, Mr Hodges for his support and being a great carrier of our dance mat, Mrs Waller for warming up the dancers and Mr Tutt for being there and supporting his amazing school. Thank you to the parents who came to cheer us on .We all had a great time.
