Greg Clark MP visit to Year 6 February 2016

Greg Clark MP visits Year 6

On the 12th February 2016, year six gathered into the hall to meet Greg Clarke and to talk about parliament and government.

Firstly, we discussed about the layout of the House of Commons and the House of Lords. We then talked about how the debates work and how they were handled.

Secondly, we arranged ourselves as if we were in the House of Commons so we could do our own debate together. The debate we came up with was if we should have homework in the half term or not. Each side had very good reasons on the topic.

Lastly, after the debate, we voted if we should have homework or shouldn’t have homework. In the end the results came out that 7 pupils voted we should have homework and 50 pupils voted we shouldn’t. There was a clear winner! We came to the conclusion that we shouldn’t have homework in half term.

Thank you to Greg Clarke for coming in and teaching year six all about Parliament. We are very grateful.
