On Tuesday 19th March, Digby, Kathryn and Robin from year 3, and Harry, Kai and Leon from year 4 went to an Able Maths Day run by Peter Hall at Stock’s Green Primary School.
We started with some maths challenges from the internet that are designed to catch people out. St James’ were able to spot the answers for quite a few of these. Other challenges included number walls, big maths beat that, an ancient Chinese challenge called Tangrams and Who Wants to be a Millionaire.
We all had a great time taking on some tricky maths challenges and Mrs Ledger said we were excellent ambassadors for St James’.
Thank you to Mrs Moriarty and Mrs Simpkins for driving us there and back in the minibus, and to Mrs Ledger for keeping us company.

Our warm up exercise was to come up with interesting names for pets, including cats, dogs, worms and octopuses! We also warmed up our voices by cackling like witches!
Throughout the day we sang along to Ed’s poems, created word banks inspired by a random object, and listened to Ed playing guitar while we daydreamed a mythical creature to write about in our poems.
